The Police Benevolent Association of New York State (PBA of NYS) is pleased to announce its endorsement of Thomas Schiliro for state Assembly.
Schiliro (D-Suffolk), a Suffolk County Park Police sergeant, accepted the endorsement.
“I am proud and honored to have the endorsement of the PBA of NYS,” Schiliro said. “As a police officer and PBA negotiator, I take this endorsement as strong support of my belief in the work of dedicated officers. I will work diligently to represent police officers and law enforcement professionals as I pursue this election and eventual victory in November.”
Manuel Vilar, PBA of NYS president, praised Schiliro as a colleague and candidate.
“Tom Schiliro would make a great representative of the 2nd Assembly District,” Vilar said. “His many years in law enforcement as a police sergeant and his private sector experience bring a depth of expertise that we need in the state Assembly. Tom is a hard worker, a true friend to the PBA of NYS, and a tremendous advocate for residents of this district.”
Candidates are selected through a process that includes face-to-face interviews, questionnaires and such elements as voting records, bill sponsorship and general support on issues deemed important to PBA of NYS members.
